Hope…

Well, we had Cathy’s follow-up with the pulmonologist on Friday. And the results are promising…

The tissue was still being fully analyzed and the results will not be in for a few more days, but what the preliminary results show is that Cathy’s tumor is a carcinoid. It will be scaled based on a ki-67 rating.

Basically, if the ki-67 score comes in low, it will be a slow-growing tumor. If the score is high, it means it’s faster-growing. If the score is low, the tumor may have been growing for some time.

We still won’t know if this is the primary spot or if it has spread from somewhere else — that’s a whole other thing we’ll need to investigate.

The good news is, with a carcinoid, removal generally = end of problem. Difficult part of that scenario is where the tumor is located. In pretty much the dead center of her lung. That makes operating trickier.

Dr. B decided he would present to a panel of doctors on Monday night (4/21), so we will see. Maybe having all the smarts in the room working the problem perhaps they’ll come up with a remedy that will move us in the right direction to get this adventure behind us in the best way.

Thank you to all who have reached out, asked for Cathy’s address, sent her care packages. They have literally made her day, every day!

She is doing well, all things considered. The shaving of the blocking in her airway has made a nice difference and she’s not coughing nearly as much.

Today is Easter — perhaps the greatest of celebrations in the Christian walk and life. I am thankful for Christ’s sacrifice on my behalf, that in his raising, we are promised an eternal life with God after our time here. I know He is the great healer. Please keep those prayers coming. We feel them, we are blessed by them, we covet them.

Amen.
